Passengers journeying from Inverness to London Heathrow this morning were hit by cancellation.

British Airways’ 7.05pm scheduled flight to the capital fell victim to the ongoing impact of an IT systems failure affecting the international airline.

BA were unable to say how many local passengers had been affected.

A spokesman said: “While the vast majority of our flights continue to operate today, we have cancelled some of our short-haul flights from Heathrow due to the knock-on effect of a technical issue that we experienced yesterday.

“We've apologised to customers whose flights have been affected and offered them the option to rebook to an alternative flight with us or another carrier or request a refund.”

Cancellations on multiple frequency routes can be rebooked onto alternative services, BA said.

The firm was unable to confirm whether this afternoon’s 3.25pm flight from Inverness to Heathrow would be affected by the disruption.
