BREAKING + PICTURES: Police and firefighters rush to incident in the Grant Street area of Inverness
Police and firefighters are present in the Grant Street and Madras Street area of Inverness after being called to an incident earlier this afternoon.
Officers from the two emergency services were called to the Merkinch address at around 2.50 pm with officers in several police vans and a number of police cars, joined by two fire appliances and a fire service support car.
Some police wore force armour and carried shields and weaponry.
Eye witnesses suggested they were involved in a stand-off with a man seen standing at a window within a property.
There were no visible signs there had been a fire in the vicinity.
An ambulance is also at the scene, while an alleyway beside the Harry Gow bakery on Grant Street has been cordoned off with police tape.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 3.10pm on Thursday, 18 April, officers attended at a property in the Madras Street area of Inverness following a report of a disturbance.
“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
