UPDATE: A9 reopens following earlier collision

AN accident prompted closure in both directions of the A9 in a Highland community.

Traffic Scotland reported the incident at Alness in Easter Ross at around 7.35pm.

It said the road was closed in both directions with emergency services en route.

There was reported to be a slight build-up of traffic then in both directions.

The latest update a few moments ago confirmed the closure to be still in place with traffic being diverted.

No cause of the incident has yet been shared by the transport agency.

Diversions via the B817 through Invergordon are being advised meantime.
