Inverness boy, 16, accused of attempted murder after incident on Raigmore Estate

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of attempted murder.

The boy, from Inverness, was arrested following an incident in the early hours of Wednesday, July 7 in Chattan Avenue, Inverness.

A 43-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and later discharged.

The teen appeared in court on Thursday charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery. He was further charged under the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995 S47(1) which relates to the carrying of offensive weapons.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody for further investigation.

He was due to appear again in court within eight days.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to reports of an attempted murder on Chattan Avenue around 1.05am on July 7. A 43-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment to his injuries and was later released.

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged in connection with this incident, and appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.”
