Police were called to a house in the Clachnaharry area of Inverness because the occupant was playing music too loudly.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 27-year-old Daniel Watcott, of High Street, Clachnaharry became aggressive towards officers on March 6 this year.

When he was arrested, he violently struggled with them and attempted to strike one.

But fiscal depute Sharon Ralph told Sheriff Nigel Cooke that police returned the following day to arrest Watcott a second time after he stole £250 of whisky and vodka from the nearby Blackpark Filling Station.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said his client had a number of difficulties and was self-medicating with alcohol. However he was now medicated.

Watcott, who admitted resisting arrest and shoplifting, was placed under social work supervision for a year.
