A NEW book has shed fascinating new light on place-names in an area of Inverness-shire.

Place-names of the Aird and Strathglass was co-authored by Kiltarlity man Ron MacLean who assisted some years ago with a St Andrews University project led by Dr Simon Taylor and Dr Barbara Crawford. He has since been closely involved with Simon Taylor and Dr Jacob King in the book which is based on earlier research but with additional content.

Mary MacDonald of Evanton contibuted to the original research and has provided photographs for the new book.

Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael presided over the launch after the book, which was was produced on behalf of Kiltarlity Community Council with assistance from Highland Council.
