Bòrd na Gàidhlig is looking for three new board members.

The Bòrd, the principal public body responsible for promoting and developing Gaelic, wants applications for membership of the board, calling on women and young people to apply.

A spokeswoman for Bòrd na Gàidhlig said: "It is an exciting and challenging time to be involved in the promotion of Gaelic in Scotland and more specifically in the work of Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

"At the moment we are looking to appoint up to three board members to our board. The range of skills, knowledge and experience we are looking for is set out in more detail in the applicant pack.

"This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals to help promote the use and understanding of Gaelic language.

"It is an opportunity to support Bòrd na Gàidhlig in being the principal advisor to Scottish Ministers on Gaelic language, education and culture and also it is an opportunity to build and maintain strong working relationships with Gaelic organisations, the wider Gaelic community, and a wide range of other organisations to achieve strong collaborations in delivering the National Gaelic Language Plan objectives.

"We would welcome applications from a wide range of individuals who are interested in this role. At this stage to make the board fair we would particularly welcome applications from women and young people."
The closing date for applications is midnight Friday October 15.
