A FORMER Black Isle soldier's snowman raised over £150 for heartfelt cause Poppyscotland, after his own battle with PTSD after his time in the army.

Ali Duff (45), also known as the Hairy Piper on social media, served in the Royal Artillery between 1993 to 2003, completing two tours of Kosovo in this time.

He was then administratively discharged before getting medically discharged after receiving his PTSD diagnosis. Ali reached out to Armed Forces support charity, Poppyscotland, who helped put him on the right track.

Now Ali uses his Facebook page, The Hairy Piper, to share his music with the world while raising money for Poppy Scotland, with his wife Siobhan.

After the heavy snowfall seen across the Highlands from January 15 to 18 in Avoch, Ali decided to build a poppy-themed snowman in hopes of raising some funds for the lifeline charity.

He posted a picture on his Facebook page, captioned: "It's been all fun and games for us today but remember our veterans who may not just be so lucky, and have nowhere warm to sleep tonight. All funds we raise goes to Poppy Scotland if our snowman helped raise a wee smile, and you would like to donate please visit my JustGiving page and help a veteran in need."󠁧󠁢

His post managed to raise a total of £157 for the charity.
