North Kessock bottle bank location decided after postal vote

THE location of a controversial Black Isle bottle bank has been decided following a community ballot.

The result of a community ballot on the location of bottle banks in North Kessock has been declared following a count held today at the Highland Council’s headquarters in Inverness after years of wrangling.

The community ballot result is that (Option B) North Kessock main car park is the preferred location for the Bottle Banks in North Kessock.

That polled twice as many votes as the other choice at Ferry Brae.

Linda Johnstone, depute returning officer at the North Kessock Bottle Banks Community Ballot, declared that the total number of votes allocated to each option was as follows:

• (A) Ferry Brae 288

• (B) North Kessock main car park 586

The electorate was 1446; with total number of postal votes returned 874; return percentage 60.4%. There wer zero rejected ballot papers.

The council says it "will now implement the outcome of this democratic community ballot" on the location of bottle banks in North Kessock.
