Highland Council has vowed to fix a 'no entry' sign that is covering signals at a pedestrian crossing in Inverness.

A Courier subscriber spotted the sign when crossing the Ness Bridge near Huntly Street.

He said: "It was covering part of the red man and then I could see the little green man at all. It was all a bit bizarre.

"I try to teach my kids road safety but at this crossing that could be tricky!

"At least cyclists knew when they could cross over safely.

"I hope it's a mistake, but I'm pretty sure it was level with another no entry sign on the other side of the pavement and I doubt they would be installed at different heights."

Huntly Street is a one-way street for motorists.

A council spokesman stressed it was not deliberately put in the wrong position.

He speculated that it had either been moved or that the weather "perhaps" was a factor.

"Our team is aware of it now though and will be rectifying it," he added.
