A BIKER reacted angrily after falling off when a Good Samaritan went to help him.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told Thomas Marello (27) of Fir Place, Culloden, assaulted the 62-year-old man on October 16 last year by Sir Walter Scott Drive, Inverness.

Fiscal depute David Barclay said: “He was irate and agitated and pushed the man, causing him to fall over.”

When police arrived Marello was required to give breath specimens, but refused.

“He was shouting and swearing and making threats which were pretty much hot air in his emotional state, rather than animosity towards the man,” Mr Barclay said.

Solicitor Duncan Henderson said: “He had suffered a broken relationship and piled his things on to his motorcycle. He accepts he should not have reacted in this way.”

Marello was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for a year.
