POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a mountain bike was stolen in Inverness city centre.

The blue Nukeproof Scout 290 bicycle was removed from bike racks in Queensgate at around 12.30pm yesterday.

It was then cycled away in the direction of Fraser Street.

Officers are looking to identify a man, described as being in his mid-20s, of slim build with fair hair and facial hair. He was wearing a green and black jacket.

A force spokesman said: "The area was reasonably busy at the time and anyone who may have seen something – even if it seemed of little note at the time – is asked to call the Inverness city centre policing team via 101, quoting incident 1637 of September 17.

"You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111."
