NAIRN BID is appealing for new blood to join their board.

The organisation which help promote business in the town has eight directors but Manager Lucy Harding said they are always looking for people to join them.

"We also have four sub groups which have been carefully created to get the best for the town and members are more than welcome to join in," said Lucy, "and if anyone wants more information I will be happy to help."

The sub groups which BID hope will bring benefits to the town are focussed on communications, finance, a voice for Nairn businesses and making Nairn a more welcoming place for both locals and visitors.

"Promote Nairn is our communications subgroup – for all things tourism related and also supports the events which we do in Nairn.

"This group suits people who are social media and digitally minded, as well as those who want to get banners, posters, stickers and more printed materials out there. The websites (visitnairn.com, nairnscotland.co.uk and nairnconnects.com) and our all of our digital assets and channels are the concern of this group," said Lucy.

"Welcome to Nairn is our committee for all the physical things which make Nairn a more welcoming place to be – from street cleaning and seagull control to installation of planters and hanging baskets of flowers in the summer, to the new benches and signposts which were delivered in partnership with the Highland Council’s funding streams last year.

"If you want to see the road signs improved, welcoming people to Nairn at both ends, and a walking trail created for Nairn, this might be the subgroup for you. You might need to roll up your sleeves and get out the tool kit in this one!"

One Voice is the voice of Nairn businesses – we support all of the shop local initiatives which have been given government funding such as Scotland Loves Local – if you care about Nairn High Street particularly but also the voice of Nairn businesses in more regional and national forums, then this might be an area you could get involved with.

Lucy adds: "Making it Happen is our financial committee – looking at budgets and expenditure as well as getting grant funding and partnership working with organisations like the council. You can get involved with this strand if you are an accountant or have experience with financial regulation or applying for funding.
