Highland councillors will get an opportunity to comment on plans for around 150 new homes in Inverness at a meeting next week

Highland Council's bid to build the housing on land previously used for Torvean Golf Course, in General Booth Road, is on the agenda of next Tuesday's south planning applications committee.

It comes ahead of two proposed drop-in public events where people can have their say on the plans, firstly at Charleston Community Complex from 5pm-8pm on June 30, then at Kings Golf Club from 1pm-5pm on July 17.

The layout of the course was changed when the West Link Road – connecting the A82 and Dores roundabout was built. It was also renamed Kings Golf Club.

There has been other housing, sports facilities and parkland developed in tandem with development of the road – the first phase of which opened in December 2017.

Last month, a pre-application notice was lodged for "proposed residential development of circa 150 units including associated infrastructure, roads and drainage".

The council's area planning manager (south) Elaine Watt stated: "It is recommended the committee notes the submission of the proposal of application notice and advises of any material issues it wishes to be brought to the applicant’s attention."
