The Inverness-shire Beekeepers’ Association is now offering courses for anyone interested in beekeeping.

The association has introduced the beginners’ classes in response to a growing awareness among the public of the importance of bees, and is hoping to get more people involved in keeping bees themselves.

They have been promoting and encouraging people in the art and science of beekeeping for years, and will be introducing their beginners courses this spring.

The courses will begin with learning about bees’ life cycles, colonies and their ability to pollinate. They will then begin to teach participants about the necessary equipment, costs and knowledge needed to keep bees safe and healthy.

The lessons will take place on Thursday evenings followed by an apiary visit to get some hands on experience with bees.
