A green project in Nairn has welcomed the support of a new official sponsor to add a touch of colour to the town centre.

Keeping Nairnshire Colourful (KNC) was delighted of the support received by Inverness Bark for their newly planted flower bed along the A96 on King Street

Annie Stewart, who runs KNC said: "The bed has established really well. It is now giving plenty of colour to those who live in and visit the town, and has been much admired.

"We have added some bulbs for the spring and are working with a new sponsor, Inverness Bark, who are supplying the bark mulch for the bed.

"KNC depends on our sponsors, either to provide funds for the plants or to maintain the beds they sponsor.

"The mulch of bark which will keep the moisture in for the plants to establish and keep down the weeds. Inverness Bark will then top up the bark each year."

She said that Alex Wilson, director of the local family business located just outside Nairn, is keen to support the community of Nairn.

Highland Council‘s grounds team, led by Wayne Stuart, will continue to maintain the bed in collaboration with KNC.

If anyone would like to be involved with KNC and help with the town beds they have adopted, they can get in touch at: knc@gmx.com or go to the KNC website.
