THE 21st Lochardil Beavers recently handed over a cheque to the British Red Cross after doing a sponsored silence to raise money for the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis.
The group of seven and eight year olds managed to raise £1000 for the 20-minute sponsored silence.
Beaver Scout leader, Mary Mitchell, said the children were discussing the war in Ukraine one day and seemed to know a lot about what was happening.
She suggested they help out in some way and the idea of a sponsored silence came up.
There was a mixed reaction as some parents and Beavers thought they would not be able to do it!
However, Ms Mitchell said: “But they did do it and we are very proud of them. Quite an achievement for seven and eight-year-olds as well as making £1000. Part of their promise in Beavers is to be kind and helpful so I think they realise they have done that.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the sponsored silence!”
We would like to apologise for a mistake printed in the Friday Inverness Courier on June 3rd where it was incorrectly stated that the Kirkhill Beavers completed this fundraising challenge.
This mistake has now been corrected and the correct group have been named in this article as the 21st Lochardil Beavers.
