Beauly man fined for theft of alcohol from supermarket

A Beauly man has been fined more than £500 for stealing alcohol and throwing a police officer towards a glass door.

Robert Wilson (32) stole more than £90 worth of alcohol from the Co-op in the Highland Capital's Telford Street on July 15 this year.

When a female police officer tried to stop him he pushed her towards a glass door to her potential injury, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Wilson, of Fairlie View, Beauly, admitted the theft by shoplifting and culpable and reckless conduct charge.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank imposed a fine of £540 plus a victim surcharge of £40.
