Barniefest music event staged by Inverness firm G&A Barnie raises £6k for Highland mental health charity Mikeysline

A city electric and plumbing business has donated £6000 to mental health charity Mikeysline raised from its own free music festival.
G&A Barnie hosted Barniefest on June 4 at the Black Isle Show Ground with main acts including Dark Horse, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Dancing With Sharks.
The free event was open to employees and their families and dozens turned out to enjoy music and food in the sun.
The fundraising total was raised from a raffle, with prizes including a £100 Prime voucher from Inverness joiners Macdonald and Macintyre, a Fourball at Fairmont, St Andrews, and a Highland Wildlife Park voucher.
G&A Barnie also donated a wigwam holiday voucher, a voucher for the Kingsmills Hotel, a children’s tablet and a further Highland Wildlife Park voucher.
A spokeswoman for Mikeysline said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the support of G & A Barnie Ltd and this cheque for £6000 will help us to continue to support adults and young people who are in emotional distress or struggling with their mental health. It was wonderful that G&A Barnie Ltd used the opportunity of an event to celebrate their staff to also raise a crucial amount of money for a local charity.”
Organiser Lynne Allan said: “Everyone enjoyed the fantastic weather and music. Children’s entertainment included bouncy castles, donkey rides, arts and crafts and a visit from Frozen characters Elsa and Anna.
“We were generously supported by our suppliers who gifted us some amazing prizes. We were thrilled to sell over 500 raffle tickets and thanks to the generosity of our staff we helped raise £6000 for Mikeysline.
“G&A Barnie are committed to building a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
“Several members of staff recently completed a Mental Health First Aid Course to increase awareness throughout the company.
“We are delighted to support local charity Mikeysline who rely on donations like ours to provide mental health support to the local area.”
