Fake bank notes were tendered at popular Inverness night spot Johnny Foxes, it has been claimed.

Management at the pub did not notice the fraud until the end of the night when takings were being counted.

A post from Inverness City Centre BID on social media has now warned other venues about the scam.

The post said: "On Saturday night, April 9, a number of fake Bank of England £20 notes, bearing the number 20 20 20 20 20 were tendered at Johnny Foxes in Inverness city centre but were not noticed until closure at the end of the night.

"It is not known if other hospitality or retail premises have been hit by this scam but businesses should be aware and alert their staff to the possibility of further incidents and to check notes as they are received and report the matter to police if they find any."
