A WOMAN who stole a bank card went on a £5000 spending spree before removing a further £1200 from ATMs in Inverness and Muir of Ord.

Carolanne Burns (30), of Balgate Drive, Kiltarlity, was convicted after trial of stealing the bank card from an address in Muir of Ord on November 5, 2017.

Between that date and November 13, 2017, she used the card fraudulently at premises in Inverness to purchase goods worth £5383 and to steal £1245 from ATMs in Inverness and Muir of Ord.

Sheriff David Sutherland heard Burns had been struggling with eviction issues at the time, as well as health issues related to an alcohol problem, with rehab not having the desired effect.

He sentenced her to four months imprisonment.
