NHS Highland’s video consulting service NHS Near Me has been recognised for improving patient safety.

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) awarded it this year’s Lucian Leape Institute Medtronic Safety and Culture Technology Award for its successful implementation of technology and culture change.

NHS Near Me provides outpatient consultations by video link either at a patient’s home or at a local clinic and has been rolled out across the NHS Highland area over the past year.

The project’s lead Clare Morrison said: “This work aims to reduce the impact of travel on patient care and improve equity of access to services.”

NHS Near Me has provided 2700 video consultations so far.
