A cadet volunteer has been recognised for his work with a medal presentation after being part of the Army Cadets for 42 years.

Captain Bart Lucas (74) volunteers for the 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Culloden Detachment and was presented with the medal by the Battalion’s Commandant Colonel Mike MacDonald.

He was given the 5th Clasp of the Cadet Force Medal.

The medal is awarded to all adult volunteers after 12 years, and thereafter for every six years of further service.

The event took place during the beginning of a joint Moray and Inverness Company training weekend at the battalion’s Cadet Training Centre in Dingwall.

Throughout his extensive years with the cadets, Mr Lucas has had several appointments including the Battalion’s Duke of Edinburgh Officer, Company Commander and even the Battalion’s Adjutant.

Capt Lucas is currently the Detachment Commander for Culloden Detachment, as well as the second-in-command for the Battalion’s Moray Company.

He is the 12th longest-serving adult cadet volunteer in the country.
