AROUND 200 broadband customers in an area of Inverness have had their service restored after a fault was detected last night.

BT customers in the Crown area were initially told last night that the service had been affected "by an incident in your local area".

The estimated restoration of service time was given then as 11.59pm today (Tuesday).

However this morning, Openreach, which builds and runs the nation's broadband network, said the service had been restored.

An Openreach spokesperson said: “Engineers investigated loss of power to a street cabinet which affected superfast broadband connectivity to around 200 customers near the Crown Circus area overnight.

"Service was restored this morning, after a faulty electrical component was replaced. We’re sorry for the disruption which was experienced by some local broadband users.”
