Organisers of one of Nairn’s most popular events have a new main sponsor for this year.

Nairn Farming Society, which runs the annual Nairn Show, has secured a partnership with Haventus, Ardersier Port’s parent company.

Show committee member Claire Rhind said: “Last year Springfield Properties were great, very successful and after the event they said they would be willing to do it again, because they got so much out of the show.

“Then because of the A9 dualling being pushed back, they said they were not going to invest in Nairn the same as they did last year. That threw us off a bit.

“We then started looking at other companies outwith farming so that they would have a chance to interact with the community, and someone suggested Ardersier Port. We were very surprised that they agreed first to meet us, because it was very last minute, and then they were really keen to come along and the sponsorship worked out really well for them. It’s very exciting.”

She added: “They said they were really excited to engage with the community. I am not sure they realise how much of the community they will reach, rather than just farmers.

“I think many have the idea of a faceless company coming to Ardersier, however I believe there is a lot of misconception around them and I think this will be a great chance for the community to meet them.”

In April, plans to redevelop the port as a major energy transition facility took a huge step forward with a £300 million investment and the creation of Haventus.

Lewis Gillies, the company’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have been given the opportunity to sponsor the Nairn Show. “As the new owner of Ardersier Port, we realise the importance of the local community to our work as Haventus begins to transform the site into a world-class energy transition facility. It’s a pleasure for the company to have the chance to support such a key event for Nairn and the surrounding area, and we wish everyone attending a really enjoyable day.”

This year’s Nairn Show is set to take place on Saturday, July 29.
