ANTICIPATION is mounting over the prospect of a fresh series of a hit reality TV show set in the Highlands.

The Traitors, fronted by Claudia Winkleman, proved to be a word of mouth hit for the BBC TV over the festive season with its setting at Ardross Castle in Easter Ross a major factor.

The series – in which 'faithfuls' have to try and uncover the traitors in their midst before being 'murdered' – dramatically grew in popularity and spawned a boost for the tourist trade, showcasing as it did some spectacular local scenery.

More than 100 people were involved in the production, generating an additional boost for accommodation providers.

A high profile American version – also set at Ardross Castle and featuring a number of celebrities amongst 'ordinary' members of the public – was also a hit.

While the BBC was tonight refusing to confirm whether a second series of the UK version has been commissioned, it is being reported that the way is being paved for filming later this year with Winkleman – until now best known as a presenter of Strictly and a DJ – returning to her role.
