Inverness city centre is set to lose another shoe shop.

Closing down signs have appeared in the windows of the Shoe Zone branch in High Street.

It follows the closure of the Clarks shoe shop in High Street in September while footwear store Schuh closed at the Eastgate Shopping Centre last month.

The closure of Clarks shoe shop marked the end of the national retail chain's presence in the north of Scotland with branches in the Inverness Shopping Park, Elgin and Fort William having closed in recent years.

The loss of the Inverness store, which has been a major supplier of children's shoes as well as adults' shoes, means the nearest branches are now in Perth and Aberdeen, both more than 80 miles away.

Although Schuh closed its shop in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, it has a new store at Inverness Retail Park.
