This morning's 7am easyJet service from Inverness to London Gatwick has been cancelled.

It is the latest in a series of flight disruptions from the Highland capital in the past few weeks.

The airline told customers online: "We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled. This is due to air traffic control restrictions."

Today's 11.40am Inverness to Luton easyJet flight has also been delayed, with the firm estimating it will now leave at 12.07pm and arriving in London at 1.27pm.

The airline told customers online: "We're sorry for the delay to your flight. We are working to minimise the delay where possible.

"Please continue to check Flight Tracker for further updates."

There was similar disruption last night, with some passengers posting comments on social media.

At around 8pm yesterday Paul Smith stated: "So Gatwick Airport, our flight to Inverness delayed and no reasons or info given. Every flight delayed as far as I can see. Airport in chaos. Should we make other arrangements. What's going on?"

A spokesperson for the airport replied: "Hi Paul, air traffic control restrictions have been put in place due to poor weather across Europe today and there are short notice staffing issues in Gatwick's control tower. Unfortunately, this has caused significant delays and cancellations this evening."
