A SECOND police appeal for witnesses has been made today (Tues April 19) after a man was approaching children in the Dalneigh area of Inverness late on Monday afternoon - one week after a similar incident in the same estate.

Extra police patrols have been mounted in the sprawling housing estate, and police ask motorists to check dash-cams, and householders to scan their doorbell CCTV in case they contain vital information.

The suspect is described as being between 20-40 years of age, of slim build, wearing dark trousers and a black jacket.

He was last seen on a footpath near the Dalneigh playing field.

A post in a local social media group warned that a man in Dalneigh had tried to "pick up" her daughter yesterday afternoon.

A similar incident was reported to Inverness police on Monday, April 11after a man was seen to grab a girl's hand at a local playpark.

Detective Inspector Caroline Mackay from the Public Protection Unit said today Tuesday: “We understand incidents like this are concerning to the local community and officers are working to trace the man involved.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen this man on Monday afternoon or anyone with relevant dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell camera footage to get in touch.

“Additional patrols are ongoing in the area to offer reassurance to the local community. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2176 of 18 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
