SOME city shoppers have today capitalised on another alcohol price glitch by supermarket giant Tesco.

A deal offering two boxes of various alcoholic drinks for £16 was going through the tills at two for £4.

"What a bargain," said one city shopper. "The deal was on crates of 12 bottles, so we got around 140 bottles for £24."

Assistants at all the Tesco outlets in Inverness had to input the prices manually once the error was noticed.

"There was a pricing glitch, which has been fixed," said a Tesco spokesman.

"It lasted for a very short time this morning and as soon as it was spotted, we looked to resolve it.

"It was a matter of a couple of hours at most."

The problem affected stores across the UK.

It follows an error at Scottish stores earlier this month where a similar deal offering three boxes for £20 was going through the tills at three for £11.
