A BUST-UP in a popular Black Isle pub led to an Inverness man being ordered to pay the manager who threw him out £100 in compensation.

Tree surgeon Rory Anderson, of Admiral’s View, Inverness was also fined £210 and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work.

He admitted at Inverness Sheriff Court two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour in the Allangrange Hotel in Munlochy on May 9, 2021.

But although one of the 25-year-old’s targets of drunken abuse was his partner, Sheriff Robert Frazer was told by defence solicitor John MacColl that they were still in a relationship and expecting their first baby.

Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh said that when the pair went to the beer garden at about 3pm they were in good spirits. But by 7pm, Anderson became abusive towards his partner and was calling her names.

“The bar manager intervened and Anderson left but came back and continued to be aggressive,” she said. “He was ushered away by the manager, followed by Anderson’s partner, both of whom were subject to a barrage of abuse.”

Mr MacColl explained: “Both had too much to drink. He no longer drinks alcohol.”

Sentencing Anderson, Sheriff Frazer told him: “Your behaviour was obnoxious, upsetting not only your partner but other people in the premises as well as the manager who was only doing his job by trying to calm things down and remove you.”
