A 43-YEAR-OLD has been ordered to take treatment for his addiction.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald placed John Baillie, of Church Street, Inverness, under 18 months of social work supervision and told him he must co-operate with the community payback order when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The court heard police had searched his room at a house of multiple occupancy on February 12 last year and found 978 Xanax tablets, worth between £1000 and £2000.

Xanax is commonly used to combat anxiety.

Solicitor Neil Wilson said his client suffered a lot of pain and self-medicated with the drug while also selling some of it to others.
