THE family of missing Inverness teenager Adam Mitchell have been informed after a man's body was found in the sea at Aberdeenshire last night.

Police have reported this morning that a man's body was recovered from the sea near St Fergus, after being discovered by a member of the public at around 9pm on Sunday.

Formal identification is still to take place but police said the family of Adam Mitchell, who has been missing from Inverness since November 9, have been informed and officers are providing support at this time.

Adam went missing following a day out in Inverness and was last seen on CCTV walking in the Longman Road near the Harry Fairbairn Garage at around 1am on November 10.

Police had visited businesses across the Longman estate recently handing out appeal posters and encouraging business owners to check their outbuildings.

They also released new CCTV images on Friday in an attempt to further jog people's memories.
