A new event aiming to get people in and around Inverness inspired to get out and explore the city has been launched.

Active Ness aims to promote walking and cycling in the area and offer opportunities for everyone to try biking.

The event comes on the back of the Pedal Power event held in Drumnadrochit in April, and is organised by Visit Inverness Loch Ness.

Activities on offer will include guided e-bike rides, free mountain bike rental, pump track and sender ramps.

There will also be a walking tour to take part in and even chances to have a taster session on a sit-on-top kayak.

A number of local providers including 42 Cycling, Explore Highland, Walk Inverness and Velocity will be offering their expertise at Active Ness.

The event, on Friday, July 7, is free but tickets for activities must be booked in advance. Food and drink will be served by Highland Coffee Academy, Oregano and Loch Ness Icecream.

Other activities over the course of the day will include bike health checks, a treasure hunt and photography competition.

Active Ness has been supported through the Community Cycling Fund and sponsors EventScotland and Paths for all, celebrating the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships taking place in Scotland this year.
