Accidentals choir donates £1500 for Nairn charities Green Hive and Macmillan nurses
A COMMUNITY choir was glad to present two Nairn charities with the results of their latest fundraising effort last week.
A total of £1500 was raised by The Accidentals at their annual Christmas concert and a share of £750 each was given to Green Hive and the Macmillan nurses.
The choir also took the opportunity to present Inverness Courier stalwart Donald Wilson – who retired in December – with a gift and recognising his support for the choir.
Ian Bryce, from The Accidentals, said: "We sing because we enjoy it and because it's good for our mental health, but also it brings people of the community together and we raise money for charities that work in our area.
"Macmillan nurses work in the Moray Firth area and Green Hive are a charity unique to Nairn, so it's great to be able to support their work."
After being presented with his gift, Donald Wilson said: "This was really unexpected, I am really humbled by the outpouring of goodwill after my retirement.
"The Accidentals do a fantastic job, and that's so important for me as a journalist to be reflecting the community, because we have a great community here in Nairn, and their concerts are absolutely superb."
Neil Mapes, chief operating officer at Green Hive, said: "We are really grateful to the choir for their support.
"Funding is really important for us and it's harder and harder for charities to raise money for their activities.
"This donation means a lot to the team at Green Hive, and we are ever so grateful to know that the choir is raising funds for us.
"The money is brilliant but so is the social boost that this gives us as well."
