A man has been banned from seeing his former partner after admitting a campaign of domestic abuse.

George Reat (54) repeatedly shouted and swore at the woman as well as uttering threats and derogatory remarks over the space of more than a year. Inverness Sheriff Court heard that there were multiple instances of this behaviour at a property in Dalcross by Tornagrain between February 2021 and March 2022.

He also left abusive messages about her on social media as well as sending her messages directly.

Defence agent Marc Dickson said the pair had been in a relationship for around 20 years but they had grown apart and relations had become strained due to them continuing to live together.

Reat, now of India Street, Inverness, was fined £800 and put on a non-harassment order for a period of 18 months.

The order also covers any social media contact or mentioning of her on those platforms.
