A collision between two vehicles on the A96 between Inverness and Nairn has led to restrictions in both directions on the road.

The incident took place on the A96 in Milton of Gollanfield, north of Tornagrain, with emergency services called to the scene shortly after 8am.

A fire service spokesperson confirmed that two appliances had been sent from Inverness, and that they had to force one of the car's doors open to remove the casualties, who are now being dealt with by the ambulance service.

Traffic Scotland reported that the accident is causing heavy traffic both ways, with all lanes restricted in both directions for up to 30 minutes.

Road users are advised to use caution on approach.
