A9 Drumochter delays: work switches to nights

Essential surfacing improvements on A9 north of Drumochter at Dalnaspidal, which caused huge delays of well over an hour on the opening day yesterday, is shifting to nights.

Traffic Scotland confirmed that the contract will continue over four nights, lane closures in place for safety from 7pm to 6am

"Please be advised that surfacing improvements on the A9 north of the Drumochter dual carriageway at Dalnaspidal will now be completed at night-time," a spokesperson confirmed.

"The essential improvements will take up to four nights to complete. The project will take place between 7pm and 6am each night with surfacing and lining due to be completed by 6am on Saturday, December 3."

To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, the works will be undertaken under 10mph convoy with lane closures and temporary traffic lights during working hours.

The road will be open outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, although a speed restriction of 30mph will stay in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
