RECKLESS motorists who use their phones while driving on the A9 are being targeted by a new safety campaign.

The Looks Can Kill campaign, which has been launched by the A9 Safety Group, has warned that drivers are four times more likely to crash if using a mobile phone while behind the wheel.

The campaign will run across radio, online and at public areas and highlight the dangers of looking at or using a phone while driving.

Michael McDonnell, from the A9 Safety Group, said: "We hope the new campaign will encourage drivers to make sure they plan a sufficient number of stops to use their mobile phones if necessary, rather than risk being distracted."
