A ROAD crash has closed the A9 at Tomich, near Invergordon.

Traffic Scotland first warned motorists of disruption shortly after 5.30pm on New Year's Day.

And, in an update at 7.40pm, they were warning that the road still remained closed in both directions.

"Road users are advised to use local diversion in place," said a Traffic Scotland spokesman.

There was no immediate word on the number of vehicles involved or whether anyone was injured.
