DOZENS of motorists have been collared by police during a day of action on one the Highlands’ busiest trunk roads
More than 150 vehicles were stopped by officers on the A82 on Friday, with support from the Northern Safety Camera Partnership.
Of the motorists who were stopped, eight speeding offences were detected, two people were reported for careless driving and seven others were found to be committing offences relating to documentation and use of vehicles.
One driver will also be reported to the procurator fiscal in relation to alleged drink driving.
A total of 21 further drivers were issued with warnings in relation to various offences during the course of the day.
Sergeant Ewan Calder of the road policing unit said: "The A82 is a crucial trunk road for local drivers, hauliers, holidaymakers and many others and it is important that the route is kept as safe as it can be.
"This initiative brought together road policing officers based in Fort William, Dingwall and Oban, as well as the Northern Safety Camera Partnership who are based in Tain and Fort William.
"We will continue to provide policing resources on the A82 to ensure it is safe for all road users."
