An Inverness man who stole various items from an NHS centre has been jailed for six months.

Duffy Reid (39) appeared in the dock at Inverness Sheriff Court on May 26 having previously admitted a charge of theft.

The court heard that on the night of July 22, 2020, he had left the building in which he was living at the time and had been seen by an official there to be empty handed.

However, he later returned with three large bags and appeared intoxicated – arousing suspicion from the woman.

The police were called and discovered that the bags contained TVs, digital cameras, webcams and clothing from an NHS podiatry centre in Abban Street.

Fiscal depute Karen Polke said: “They noticed he was intoxicated and he could not provide an answer as to how to came into possession of them.”

It was later discovered a window had been unlocked at the podiatry centre and the property was not secure.

Court papers showed the haul of stolen items included NHS uniforms, face masks, adrenaline, two iPads, two digital cameras, two webcams and other miscellaneous computer and medical equipment.

Reid, of Kessock Road, had his sentence reduced by two months from eight to six for his early plea of guilty.
