Inverness has a groovy new fitness class on Thursday nights
Thursday nights in Inverness have been cranked up a notch with a new exercise class that left me feeling buzzed.
‘Clubbercise’, which combines exercise, dancing and combat moves for a 45 minute workout is claimed to burn 400 - 500 calories per hour.
Dressed in my finest lycra I went along to Bank Street for the debut night to see what the class was all about.
Based at Performers UK, the class is being led by fitness guru, Louize Macklin who drives through once per week from Aviemore to take the packed class.
Talking with Louize about Clubbercise she said: “I just love it.
“It’s a fun-filled body workout with a banging soundtrack that gets results.”
The large studio was soon filled with eager participants like myself, queuing up to buy our glow sticks for a boogie.
The atmosphere was full of energy as people of all ages were led by Louize in various routines that were both challenging and fun.
As the class is set in darkness, it allows people to feel less self-conscious and more at ease to dance away the stresses of the day.
Louize said: “I know that I will get my 10,000 steps and burn 400-500 calories a class.
“[Clubbercise] is a great social event but it is also good as it’s done in the dark.
“If people are self conscious working out with others they can do it easily and enjoy the class.”
It certainly allowed me to do just that.
Being new to the city, I got to meet lots of lovely locals of Inverness whilst also being able to dance away the worries of the day alongside a cracking playlist.
It was evident that everyone had a good time, judging by the smiles (and sweat!) on all faces at the end of the night.
Louize is a motivating host, who made her new Inverness attendees feel welcome and encouraged.
Classes will run on Thursday night at Performers UK until June 23rd, with each session costing £7.50.
