An oil worker found under the influence of cocaine while behind the wheel has been fined and banned from driving.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that members of the public at the Fairy Glen car park on the Black Isle became concerned when they saw an unresponsive man sitting in his car.

Police were called and found offshore worker Matthew Milward (41), of Newton Steading, Avoch, slumped at the wheel, slurring his speech and barely able to stay awake.

The court was told officers believed he was under the influence of a narcotic and conducted a drugs search on June 15, 2020.

They found 0.5 grams of cocaine in the vehicle, which had a street value of around £50.

Milward admitted possessing the class A drug and being in charge of a car while under the influence.

He was fined a total of £370 and disqualified from driving for six months.
