A budding Inverness entrepreneur has set up her own puptastic dog biscuit- making business.

Fur-bulous Jessica Calder has launched her first enterprise after being encouraged by her mum.

After a ruff lockdown for the Milton of Leys Primary pupil, she said she wanted to do something paws-itive.

The six-year-old had thought of other op-paw-tunities for businesses she wanted to start, but making the biscuits was the first one she and her mum Kellie agreed on.

Mrs Calder, who works for the ambulance service, said: “Jessica has been desperate to start her own business and to make some money of her own.

“At first she wanted to do something with kids and jogging. I said ‘no’ as it would have meant me organising and doing it.

“She then said we should do something with dog walking, as she loves animals and wants to be a vet one day. But again, I thought I would end up doing it.”

Eventually Jessica hit on the idea of making the dog biscuits, inspired by her uncle who runs a pet charity in Brora.

“I thought this could work, so I ordered her a kit to start her off,” Kellie said.

“Jessica has now set up Pawsome Delights. At the moment she is making two completely natural and healthy dog biscuits flavoured with liver, and peanut butter and bacon.

“We have lots of orders from family and friends.

“We have made a Facebook page for her, and people can order directly from there.

“We just started last month – and Jessica is doing really well already.”

She added: “The biscuits cost £3 a box, and biscuits can be collected from our doorstep – or we can deliver them around our local area.”

Feedback about the biscuits has been good, with some paw-ssionate dog owners saying theirs love the treats when they have not enjoyed shop-bought products.
