A Black Isle charity has been given the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
A charity in the Highlands has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Black Isle Cares who have been awarded the accolade, provide support to ensure that vulnerable members of the community are cared for and celebrated
Anne McDonald, chair woman of Black Isle Cares spoke of her pride and excitement at the announcement that the group got the award for Voluntary Service:
“This award is recognition of the hard work and creativity that Black Isle Cares volunteers and staff have shown in providing support for vulnerable people in our community.
“What started out as a few people wondering how they could make things better in our community has now evolved into a recognised service that is essential to the needs of the Black Isle.
“I speak on behalf of the whole organisation in saying how proud I am of this award.“
She added: “Black Isle Cares are very grateful to our fantastic, dedicated team of volunteers.
“Our befriending service currently has a waiting list because we don’t have enough volunteers to meet the demand.
“We know that this is a role that is very rewarding for both volunteers and the befriended person.”
