ALMOST 230 timetabled bus services in Inverness have now failed to run since last Thursday – after Stagecoach announced another 54 cancellations this morning.

The total for the seven days between last Thursday and Wednesday stood at 172 yesterday, but three further cancellations during the day and the 54 now confirmed for today have taken the running tally to 229.

The ongoing issues are being caused by a long-running driver shortage as well as staff illness.

The latest services affected on Thursday include the 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 9.

Worst affected today are the number 1 – which runs between Balloch and Inverness city centre and Dalneigh – with 19 separate cancellations; and the number 2, with 11 journeys axed. The latter route runs between Craig Dunain and Woodside Village.

The number 3, which runs between Craig Dunain and Oakdene Park, has also suffered 11 cancellations.
