Dozens of line dancers showcased their best steps in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

Margaret ‘Midge’ Mathieson, an Inverness line dancing teacher, brought together dancers from the various classes she runs for a mass "danceathon" at Balloch Village Hall.

Many bringing their friends along too, the event was a light-hearted and fun way to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.

The 50 dancers who attended wore a splash of pink to show their support for charity Breast Cancer Now, between a raffle and donations managing to raise an impressive £1070.

Ms Mathieson holds regular line dancing classes for High Life Highland at Inverness Leisure Centre and Inverness Royal Academy.

The event was a chance for socialising as well as helping a good cause.

“The atmosphere was just buzzing, absolutely buzzing," she said.

"It was very noisy, there was lots of chatting, lots of laughing and some line dancing. The atmosphere was just amazing.”

“We line dance to everything – we line dance to rock, country, pop, Irish music, waltzes, we dance to all different kinds of music. Everyone thinks it's just country music but we even dance to Latin!

“There were all my class members and some of them brought their friends and family along. We all brought sandwiches, cakes and home-bakes.

“It was a fundraising aspect but also a social event, a chance to get together because there hasn’t really been that much on – there hasn’t been a big event since before Covid."
