Just starting to come out of hibernation and here are a few thing if you're ready to put your nose out the door at last ...
1 Janey Godley's having a laugh (again) ...
National treasure and Scotland's 'nippy sweetie' stand up, Janey Godley, has been through the ringer in the last while. Being cancelled (her own fault she says and she apologises). But then developed a giant tumour in her "ovary giblets", as she puts it – "I went from “cancel to cancer” in 6 weeks". No wonder Janey is ready for a laugh and now brings NOT DEAD YET on the road. Plus Janey, who will be joined by her daughter Ashley Storrie, pays tribute to the heart-warming love she received for … a woman who answered back. At Eden Court on Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4. 8pm 16+

2 Fancy a night of rock – here's two to choose from!
The Tooth & Claw in Inverness sets up two rock line-ups to rev up the weekend. First, for Friday (Feb 3) three of the best local bands to keep your night rocking with Lucid Liars, Lucille and Chancers. While on Saturday (Feb 4) 8pm Space Van launch new single Waste Of Time. Expect 90s rock with a dash of 60s style. Special guest Macgilli is on acoustic loop guitar plus a DJ set from the Hoggoblin. For their night, Space Van have £8 tickets, also special £5 cost of living tickets too.
Lucid Liars' singer Rikki Mackenzie explained: "Late last year with the Ironworks hope gone and Mad Hatters not doing gigs any more, it seemed to put a fire up everyone and it was as if the whole music scene was in crisis. So I got in touch with Mark from Lucille and Jake from Chancers to get this little band night together to see what happens. The whole music scene seems to be quite dire just now. We will need more, regular band nights and collaborating more between artists. But this is a reminder that local bands are still here and this is a pretty busy weekend."
3 The story of a song
Hallelujah is one of those songs that whoever sings it – from Bono to Masked Singer's Jacket Potato – it's a heartbreaker. But no-one beats the man who wrote it, the late Leonard Cohen. Take a trip to Eden Court Cinema to discover Leonard Cohen: A Journey And A Song (12A) – how this song came to be written and the massive influence it’s had on generations of artists and listeners.

4 Youth arts festival kicks off
Nice project to start the year off for young creative people – Creative Scotland's UNCON 2023 – UNCON stands for unconventional, is designed to get people to share ideas, artwork, music and showcase your own work. This is the Inverness launch and it's free, but sign up with the link below and head along to the Creative Academy at WASPS on Midmills Road on Saturday (Feb 4) from 1pm until 8pm. It's a come-and-go event, so everyone should feel free to drop in.
5 Not to miss midweek ...
OK, it's not the weekend, but smart to book this one a few days in advance as this is likely to be one of the hottest tickets in the city this week. Catch stand up Maisie Adam at Eden Court on Wednesday, February 8. You haven't seen her before? Surprising, as she's fresh from TV shows such as Live At The Apollo, A League Of Their Own, Mock The Week, David Mitchell's Dave show Outsiders and The Last Leg – and also a best newcomer nominee. Find out what all the fuss is about, ticket link below.
