With Jay Carder at Household, the final Under Canvas events, a busy band weekend at Tooth & Claw and a film 'that can change the world' – you choose!

1 Dance star in the house

Household presents their latest guest – Jay Carder at Upstairs, from 10pm-2am on Saturday, August 26. Jay Carder’s blend of bass, techno and breaks saw her come into her own last year, with sell-out headline shows in the UK and also India and Istanbul. She also appeared at Glastonbury for the first time, plus other festivals and three sets at Fabric. On radio, you can hear her take – on The Dance Show on Rinse, UK bass for Kaizen on NTS, and underground Indian trip hop on Soho Radio. She grew up in South East London where she began her promoter/DJ journey eight years ago throwing events with collective 4 To The Floor London, which attracted house dancers, hustlers, b-boys, voguers, waackers and other dance styles from Paris, Japan, Berlin and major dance cities from around the world. She now runs her own club series House of Carder. There will be the garden party before Upstairs too at The Innes Bar from 3-11pm.

5 Growing the future ...

On Sunday, August 27 from noon to 3pm, Seed Saving For Community Growers is a free event at Inverness Botanic Gardens. A seed saving workshop is the main part, but there are lots of other things going on too, including a Good Food Movement walk and talk around the gardens and light refreshments made with seasonal, local produce will be provided. Bring any seeds or seedlings to swap. Saving seeds is a vital tool for community growing groups to save money, develop locally adapted strains of favourite plants and bring people in the community together to share varieties.
